Ralphie, who went viral earlier this year for a Facebook post that described him with brutal honesty, has been adopted. Ralphie spent time with the Niagara SPCA this year after two owners decided he was too much to handle. The 26-pound, one-year-old white French bulldog with black spots drew quite a bit of attention earlier this year after a January Facebook post described the temperamental pup as "a whole jerk." "Ralphie is a terror in a somewhat small package," a January Facebook post from the Niagara County SPCA read. However, as someone with experience training dogs, Jason knew helping Ralphie through his triggers and aggression would take time.

But for Ralphie, a dog currently with the Niagara SPCA, the shelter decided to use a different strategy. A popular Facebook post shared over 700 times since last week describes the pup as "a whole jerk." What could go wrong with a 26lb dog, right? "What they actually meant was: Ralphie is a fire-breathing demon and will eat our dog, but hey, he's only 26lbs," the post reads. As of Friday, Ralphie was still available for adoption, according to CNN.

Poloncarz updated the death toll from the blizzard on Wednesday, reporting 37 deaths in Erie County, with one other storm-related fatality in neighboring Niagara County. The goal was to get at least one lane of traffic open on each street by Wednesday night, Poloncarz said. The mercury climbed above freezing on Wednesday, and forecasts called for the thaw to continue with spring-like temperatures and showers likely by week's end. "We're actually expecting a rapid melt over the next two days, because we're going to hit 50 degrees (Fahrenheit)," Poloncarz said. Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Gulf Coast and lower Mississippi Valley, the weather service said.

Snow was expected to fall in Erie County into Tuesday afternoon. Nationwide, temperatures plummeted, and huge snow drifts have trapped people inside their homes and snarled travel. The medical examiner's office in Erie County determined the 25 deaths there to be directly related to the blizzard, Poloncarz said. The county executive said a "good portion" of those deaths occurred in Buffalo, and that many died from heart problems while shoveling or snow blowing.
